v0.2.1 - Gameplay Updates & Bug Fixes


Game Updates

Updates made to the jam submission since its initial release two days ago. Here’s a summary of the fixes, additions, and improvements:

Audio & UI Enhancements

  • Added layered 3D audio that shifts dynamically between the kingdom and the depths.
  • Added SFX for unit summons, card selections, button clicks, and player/King attacks.
  • Updated UI with run count, clearer in-game messages, and disabled hover effects for unavailable cards.
  • Fixed issues with spawning the next card in the same category, after being selected.

Gameplay & Logic Fixes

  • Platformer mode is now fully implemented after summoning the King.
  • Reworked enemy spawn logic to prevent overcrowding and ensure proper pacing.
  • Refactored damage handling and added a cooldown period after taking damage.
  • Enemies now pause briefly before attacking, making combat easier to read.
  • The game speeds up the longer you last in a run, reflecting your progress as well as making replays more engaging!

Balance & Systems

  • Reduced cooldown card value to 30% for a more noticeable effect.
  • Balanced all unit stats including but not limited to the Red Knight and the King. They now feel worth their high population cost.
  • Fixed logic for zero-population edge cases.

Polish & Optimization

  • Added the run count in the homepage along with a better UI layout.
  • Optimized platformer movement and King controls with proper in-game instructions.
  • Fixed game over logic, enemy spawner bugs, and much more.
